Riyadh: Vijay Rai Re-elected KWAR President

Riyadh, May 24: KARAVALI WELFARE ASSOCIATION-Riyadh (KWAR) is a voluntary association, established primarily with the objective of connecting Riyadh and others parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with Mangalore International Airport through the Direct Flights Campaign. KWAR came into existence last year in 2008 that comprised of Mangaloreans of different communities in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
 
KWAR has done some milestones in getting the dreams of direct flight campaign such as submission of Memorandums to the AI Express Authorities and Officials, concerned Departments, Ambassador of India to Saudi Arabia and other alike. Moreover, they took up the signature campaign in this connection and submitted it to the Chief of Air India Express and others.

To mark the second anniversary of KWAR, the General Body Meeting of its members was held recently at Half-Moon Hall at Batha, a Commercial center of Riyadh. As a formality, the past executive committee was dissolved to enable the new committee to be in berth for the current year.














Abdul Hameed Wenz and Ambrose D’Mello were the independent Election officers, who were selected amongst the audience present in the General Body Meeting to conduct the election for the Executive Committee-2009-2010. Vijay Rai, who was the past President, has been unanimously re-elected as the President of KWAR for the year 2009-2010.

Team of Office bearers for the current year was also elected in the Meeting to navigate the Association on its set objectives. Vijay Rai has summarized the activities of KWAR for the last year including its family get-together, charity programmes and other events. Khasim Ahmed, the Pioneer of Mass Community Programmes through JF Riyadh Unit, and the Vice President of KWAR, made a presentation of the various milestones of KWAR during the past one year.

P.M Bhaskar welcomed the members with his welcome speech. The meeting ended with vote of thanks.

It is the main objective of KWAR to translate the dream of direct flight from Riyadh to Mangalore into reality. A lot of Mangaloreans and people of its neighboring places are facing a numerous problems on their travel to their final destinations from Riyadh and other places in the Kingdom to their places and vice versa.
