Bahrain: Karnataka Club Toastmasters Celebrate Annual Day Out

Media release by Joe Andrade

Bahrain, May 5: If there is anyone who says that Toastmasters is only about confident communication, speeches and delivering them, that person is wrong!     There is another side of the coin as well, the social side emanating from the Toastmasters experience.   The members of Karnataka Club Toastmasters, Bahrain, along with their families and guests, geared up to celebrate their  8th Annual Day at the Clay Oven Restaurant in Adliya, on Friday, the 1st of May, 2009.           It was an ideal place for Toastmasters and their families to socialize and exude the camaraderie in their annual typical style, with singing, games, dancing and noisy fun.    It was a spirited day in a cosy ambience where all who gathered went home with fun-filled memories enjoying themselves in the best camaraderie.

The program began at 10.30 a.m. with a warm-up breakfast consisting of idli-sambar and masala tea.   The VP-PR TM Colin Joseph, the chief organizer of the event welcomed the gathering.    This was followed by games for children and adults.   President, TM Joe Andrade addressed the gathering thanking the organisers for the eventful day placed before them and invoking the labour day dedicated to workers all over the world who strive to make our lives comfortable.   The Master of Ceremonies was the flambuoyant TM Lionel Mendonca and the enthusiastic TM Prakash Shetty who kept the gathering entertained with variety entertainment, spot prizes.

The highlight of the day was a Family Quiz compiled by TMs Zishan Beg and Joe Andrade where 10 families participated.     Some member’s children gave filmy dance numbers.

The Executive Committee, with the President TM Joe Andrade giving the lead, cut the 8th Anniversary Cake, the tasty bite of which was the privilege of all.

A sumptuous buffet lunch was served at 1.30 p.m.   Thereafter a round of Bingo was organized  with attractive valuable sponsored and complimentary prizes donated by many well wishers and friends of Toastmasters for the occasion through the good offices of some Toastmaster members.    There was a special Raffle organized and again with attractive giveaway prizes like Lunch for Two at Bapco Club,    Besides several complimentary items were distributed to children and all the elders present.     It was a day of fun and frolic - everyone went home with some useful gift and of course, memories of the day to cherish!

TM Joe Andrade thanked all those present and not present and contributed to the success of the Toastmasters Annual Day program.   Surely, there is more to it than public speaking that Toastmasters can boast about!
