Mumbai, Apr 11: It was a commemoration of  21 Years of   The Way of the Cross Live on the Streets on 10th April 09, 10 am at the  Sacred Heart Church , Santacruz (W), suburb of Mumbai.

It has been religiously followed since 2 decades  and  every Good Friday, the Stations of the Cross  have been enacted live with  music on the streets of Khar, Santacruz (East & West), Vakola Kalina & Kurla. Tens of  thousands of Christians joined in the walking pilgrimage on this day of fast, prayer, penance & abstinence.

The live event  played a big role in  bringing the message of Good Friday to non-Christians, many of whom mistakenly believe it to be a feast day.  Hi-Fi  sound system and special effects were effectively deployed to bring alive the arrest, suffering, death & resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The  dramatic representation was  aimed at vividly portraying  the happenings at Mount Calvary, over 2000 years ago. The 6 hour programme  consisted of  15 songs,  rich in spiritual experience for at least 30,000 faithful  who attend and also thousands more who witnessed it. The  stations of the cross highlighted scenes  of  The Agony in the Garden , Jesus  before Pilot’s Court, Jesus Meeting  His Mother, Simon, Veronica & Weeping Women, The 3 Falls, Stripping, Crucifixion, Laying in the tomb & Resurrection.

The CROSS & The CSF Organized the continuous  6 hour Way of the Cross Ceremony . The CROSS Founder President Mr. Joseph Dias was  the head of the organizing committee of the Ceremony. The procession began at  10.30am  from the Sacred Heart Church Khar (W) and ended  at 4.30pm at Santacruz (E), suburb of Mumbai.

Via Dolorosa on Mumbai streets, its the spirit of God that is a witness to this great event taking place in its 21st year. Mr. Joesph Dias and his team will surely be blessed for having brought to the the people of Mumbai the greatest event that took place more then 2000 years ago. In a city where crowds never end and to perform this great event of our Lord on the streets of Mumbai would not be possible if not for the spirit of the Lord. My greetings of Joy to Joseph Dias and his entire team that made it possible, may the Good Lord bless all of you. Happy Easter and God Bless. Kevin Dias.
