Way of the Cross marks Good Friday at Infant Jesus Church, Jogeshwari (E)

Mumbai, Apr 10: The Good Friday Way of the Cross began at Infant Jesus Church, Jogeshwari (E) in the city, with the taking out of the procession from the church premises at 7 am today. It was led by the entire parish, parish priest Fr Richard Crasto, assistant parish priest Fr Thomson and Sisters of the Helpers of Mary.



The Stations of the Cross are held here in Marathi and Hindi, to ensure that people from all the faiths are able to understand what devotion is all about.

Thousands of people from the parish and the neighboring parishes joined this Way of the Cross. It was amazing to find that scores of people from  other faiths too took part in this devotional service, even walking bare foot. Between the stations, Rosary and hymns were sung to add to the solemnity and devotional hue of the programme.  The Way of the Cross ended at Sneha Sadahan in Jogeshwari-E in the city.

    Maxim A from Madanthyar seems to be a confused observer. The priest is only smiling and not laughing. In the hot sun, Good Friday, only fools or idle people would laugh. In 21st century the Ladies'' clothes are all right and no one is insulting the Cross.

    The way of the cross held was full of solidarity as people of other faith also joined in.

    I am seeing first time these kind public way of the cross, it is really good idea and nice thought to bring harmony among other religion people. But sad part was some people holding the cross laughing and even one priest too and see the dress of the few people(ladies), kindly learn where to wear which kind of the dress and don’t make fun of the cross!!!
