Dubai: Canute Mathias Elected New President of SFX Kutam

Dubai, Mar 7: Young and energetic the greatest over in Test history Mathias has been elected president of the St Francis Xavier Association (SFX Kutam), a group of Mudarangady parishioners residing in the UAE. He was elected at the meeting of the SFX Kutam held recently in Vinney’s Restaurant at Karama

The meeting commenced with a prayer followed by a welcome note by the outgoing president Prakash D'Souza. The meeting had a review of all the activities and the good work carried out during the year 2008. Prakash thanked the committee and the members for their consistent support during his tenure as president.

Later new office-bearers of the Association for the year 2009-2010 were selected. Canute who has been elected president, has been an active member of this six-year-old association and has shouldered various responsibilities in the past.

Following are the new office-bearers elected unanimously:

President:   Canute Mathias
Vice--president:   James Mathias
Secretary:   Saritha D'souza
Treasurer:   Santhosh Mathias
Media Coordinator:  Vipin D'souza 
Cultural secretary: Asha Mathias
Assistant cultural secretary: Leslie D'souza
Sports secretary:   Vinod Mathias

Area Coordinators:
Dubai: Sandeep Mathias, Johnson D'Silva, Leena D'souza 
Sharjah: Edwin D'Souza
Abu Dhabi: Prakash Tellis
   
The newly-elected president Canute Mathias thanked the outgoing president for leading the association in the right direction and all the members for electing him as president. He emphasized that the challenge ahead is to 'Bring all Mudarangady parishioners' residing in the UAE together and to continue all the good work carried on during the past 6 years. He requested the committee and the members for their full cooperation and assured them of his best efforts for the unity and continuity of the good work.
