Dubai, Feb 19: Over 1,000 primary students of Our Own Indian School, Dubai, staged a splendid show - singing, dancing, and giving some wonderful performances, in a sparkling display of talent at the Annual Primary Concert Tap Talent Treat- 9 held at the school on Wednesday February 18.

The concert, which is the result of a year-long treasure hunt, has served as a great platform for children to display their talent. It also offers teachers a chance to discover the children's innate talents and nurture them for a productive outcome.

The programme began with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Rauffuddin Mohammad Athar and its English rendering by Vaneesa Johnson, followed by the National Anthem and welcome address by the head, KG and Primary, Amol Rao.

The hushed audience was then spellbound as the Grade 4 choir beautifully rendered two inspirational songs, 'Zero-to-Hero' and 'A Star is Born' from the children's animation classic 'Hercules',  exhorting the people  to recognize the untapped power within themselves to rise up and shine.

Then first graders introduced the audience to the topsy-turvy, exciting and fantastic world of canines through songs, dances and action sequences in a one-of-a-kind musical 101 Dalmatians, the Disney classic about good versus evil. An amazing 261 students staged the show.

Another classic musical Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves was staged by 287 students of Grade 2.

A total of 247 children of Grade 3 staged the musical, 'The Bees', depicting the enduring fight of Barry B Benson, a bee, against the human race.

The programme was interspersed with folk dances from different parts of India, which were presented by the Grade 4 children. A few  among them were the Baisaki – harvest dance of Punjab, Goa Carnival, Onam festival dance, Rajasthani dance, the Koli dance of Maharashtra, the Holi dance, the Dandiya of Gujarat and the Kashmiri dance.

Dr F A Wasil, director of Asian Schools, GEMS was the chief guest. The principal of Our Own Indian School, Aziz Akhtar, was also present.
