Mangaluru: Manipal School celebrates inter-school cultural fest ‘Tirangaa 2018’

Mangaluru, Aug 25: Manipal School organized the sixth edition of the inter-school cultural fest – ‘Tirangaa 2018’ here.

With an aim to improve the physical and mental health of students and create awareness around maintaining a stable health regime for better learning, the theme of Tirangaa 2018 was 'Health & Fitness- Mind, Body and Soul'. The fest hosted at Manipal School witnessed participation from over 650 students representing more than 15 schools from the city.

The physical and mental health of children, who are the to-be ambassadors of the nation, is quintessential. To make students realise their potential and work happily and productively, Tirangaa 2018 included various physical and health-themed activities such as PomPom Hockey, movie making on healthy habits, fancy dress competition, word puzzle, the urban yogis, stand-up comedy, memory game and more across the age groups. The fest provided a platform for schools and educators to highlight the impact of health and fitness on student’s academic performance.





"This is the sixth edition of Tirangaa and the school has received remarkable responses from the students. Tirangaa is an occasion which brings children together every year to participate in light-hearted activities. Synonymous to health and fitness, Tirangaa 2018 aimed to stimulate students toward healthy activities that lead to happiness, success and achievements," announced Anuradha Shivaram, principal, Manipal School.

The activities were assigned to the students as per their classes. Students from pre-primary 1 and pre-primary 2 played hockey with pompoms and had fancy dress competition. Grade 1 and 2 played word puzzle games and presented story through simple yoga poses. Grade 3 to 5 participated in Triathlon-three events played by a three-member team and memory games. Students from grade 6 to 8 had poster making competition and Raponomics to create a rap in any language based on the theme shared on spot. Grade 9 to 12 students participated in stand-up comedy and movie making on healthy habits.

Tirangaa is organized every year with the vision of tapping the hidden talent in every child. The event is organized every year on the occasion of Independence Day to provide a fun inter-school platform for children to compete and exhibit their skills within their respective age groups.
