Panaji, Oct 13: Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the national conference on IFRS, organized by the Accounting Standards Board Of ICAI in association with Western India Regional Council Of ICAI, hosted by the Goa Branch, Manohar Parrikar, leader of the opposition said, "Indians have progressed much faster in the fields of science and finance, and Indian chartered accountants can give a new direction based on human considerations rather than just being data gatherers. International global scenario is indicative of "loss of character" that is visible world-wide. Therefore, Indian chartered accountants can give proper direction and work out the ethics for financial matters."

C A B M Agarwal, chairman WIRC of ICAI in his speech, mentioned that IFRS would enable chartered accountants to earn in Euros while practicing in India and urged the participants to open their minds. Informing that the ICAI will be organizing the "train for trainers programme," he added that even small states in India would be given the opportunity to avail of this important knowledge.

C A Gautam Verlekar, chairman Goa Branch of WIRC welcomed the chief guest. Others present were C A B M Agarwal, chairman WIRC of ICAI, CA Dhiraj Khandelwal, secretary WIRC and C A Manguesh Kinare.
