Udupi: Motorcycle rider dies in crash after dog crosses road

Udupi, Aug 22: A motorcycle rider died after sustaining serious injuries when he lost control of his bike while trying to avoid a dog that suddenly crossed the road at Uppunda on August 20.

The deceased has been identified as Udaneshwara Bhat of Uppunda village.

According to reports, Bhat was travelling from Ammanavara Thopu towards School Gate in Uppunda when a dog suddenly came in front of his motorcycle.

He reportedly applied the brakes to avoid hitting the dog, causing him to lose control of the bike and fall onto the road. He sustained serious injuries in the accident.

He was initially taken to the Byndoor Community Health Centre for treatment. Following the advice of doctors, he was shifted to a private hospital in Manipal for further treatment.

However, he succumbed to his injuries despite treatment.

A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station and further investigation is underway.
