Mangalore, Oct 12: According to a press release issued by the Federation of University and College Teachers' Associations in Karnataka (FUCTAK) president Prof A M Narahari and general secretary Prof C H Murugendrappa, the department of collegiate education has introduced the concept of adalats for the first time, to mitigate problems faced by the college teaches. The first ever adalat is scheduled to be held at the office of the commissioner of collegiate education at 3 pm on October 20, the release discloses.

Commissioner of collegiate education Dr Nagambika Devi put forth the idea of holding the adalat during discussions she had with the FUCTAK office bearers recently, it has been stated.

The first adalat will take up the issue of placement and redeployment of teachers from bifurcated PU colleges. The higher education minister will be requested to be present during the adalat, it has been informed.

The commissioner promised the delegation of teachers, to write to all the regional directors to finalise proposals on these issues and present them at the adalat to be held in Bangalore.The federation has requested lecturers whose cases are pending since long, to be present at the session.

The Federation has appreciated the initative of the commissioner, but has asked her to ensure that the exercise becomes purposeful and meaningful. The regional directors should ask the colleges to forward all pending proposals immediately, FUCTAK has demanded.
