Udupi, Jul 28: As on today, it has been two years since NRI entrepreneur from here, Bhaskar Shetty, was murdered. In this case, wife of the victim Rajeshwari Shetty, son Navaneet Shetty, and astrologer, close to Rajeshwari, Niranjan Bhat continue to be behind the prison bars. Their efforts to secure bail have not succeeded so far.

Hearing in the case is currently on, and it is scheduled to take place on August 13 to 16 and 18.

The case has over 150 witnesses, and the chargesheet runs into 1,300 pages. Out of the witnesses, examination of 11 witnesses has been completed, and on behalf of the prosecution, senior advocate from here, Shantharam Shetty, has been appointed as special public prosecutor to fight the case.

Bhaskar Shetty was killed on July 28, 2016 at his residence at Indrali here. It has been claimed in the chargesheet that his body was transported in a car to Nandalike near Belman, where it was cut into pieces and burnt in fire lit in a Homa Kunda with the help of Niranjan Bhat.
