Bantwal, Oct 3: A farm supervisor employed by the ex-minister and chairman of Coastal Development Authority B Nagaraj Shetty was found to have died in the farm house owing to burn injuries on Thursday October 2.

The body of farm supervisor Rajapa (55) was found in the morning on Thursday, in a burnt state. The incident occurred at the farm house owned by Nagaraj Shetty, located at Daddalkad Kumerupalne of Panjikal village of Bantwal taluk. The neighbourers who saw smoke billowing from the house at around 9 am, went near the house to see that Rajappa, who was lying on a cot there, had been burnt alive. Shivaram Bhandary, who oversees the workers and lives in the same house, was away on some work at that time, and after learning about the development on his return, called up Nagaraj Shetty.

Some speculate that Rajappa poured kerosene on his body before setting himself on fire, while others claim that he was murdered and then torched.

Rajappa, a native of Dharwad, used to live at Mulky Karnad since the last few years. Recently he had joined here as the farm supervisor. Nagaraj Shetty visited the spot and asked the police to undertake detailed investigation. Bantwal rural police have registered a case and interrogated a few persons.
