Mumbai, Sep 18: Following the deadly 13th September blasts in Delhi, Bollywood star Shahid Kapur is appealing all Mumbaikars to be alert.

To prevent any similar terror attacks in the financial capital, the Mumbai police has launched the 'Alert Mumbaikar' campaign in collaboration with a telecom firm. The aim of the campaign is to make the citizens of the city alert and report anything suspicious to the cops through a 24-hour helpline (9702100100).

To catch the attention of people, Shahid Kapur has been chosen for promoting 'Alert Mumbaikar'.
Speaking at the launch of the function, Shahid said, "I have never found myself in trouble before. But now we need to be aware of our surroundings all the time."

The campaign is based on a survey done by Mumbai Police. According to the survey, 79 per cent of Mumbaikars consider the city as an easy target for militants but only 3 per cent of people are alert and take action when they find something suspicious. The survey also indicates that 87 per cent people tend to think that if a terrorist act occurs, it will not affect them.
