Mangalore: Police Arrest Five in Connection With Bajpe Incident

Mangalore, Aug 29: Relating to the stabbing of Anil Kumar(30), an employee of King Fisher Airlines at Bajpe on Wednesday August 27, the police have taken into custody five persons.

The arrested persons have been identified as Nazir from Kinnipadav, Razack from Adyapadi and three others.

It is said, that a woman was injured when some people pelted stones at a bus which was moving towards Adyapady from State Bank. Buses did not ply at Bajpe, sensing trouble by a huge gathering there.

Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president Sucharita Shetty visited Bajpe and pleaded with the people to maintain peace. He assured, that the policemen and the district administration have been doing everything under their control, to nab the culprits.

In the meanwhile, prohibitory orders were promulgated under section 144 in Bajpe region, till 12 am on Saturday, August  30. B C Road was considerably calm, as the police tightened security arrangements there.

    Most unfortunate thing has happened breaking a long time peace in the region. The need of the hour is to be calm and peaceful allowing the authorities to take action against the culprits. The political parties should not intervene and treat the incident as one time. Mangaloreans would once again stand up and show unity in diversity.
