Mumbai, Aug 23: It was his girlfriend who convinced Khan that Anil Sharma would be apt to direct his  period drama Veer, reports Noyon Jyoti Parasara

Salman Khan is busy shooting for his next movie Veer, the script for which he has written. After much speculation over who would finally be directing the movie, it’s Anil Sharma who is wielding the baton.

Anil has Katrina Kaif to thank this for. Salman says, “Katrina has worked with Anil before (in Apne with Sunny and Bobby Deol). She said that he is a good director and would do a good job.”

It may be noted that in the recent past there were some rumours about Anil no more being a part of the project. This was following reports, which alleged that the director had made an indecent proposal to an aspiring actress who was sent to him by Salman for audition. Both Salman and Anil had reacted to the report. Anil had denied the accusations levied on him.

Talking about Veer, Salman says, “It’s a great film. It’s about men. It’s about honour and pride.” The actor also asserts that the film is not just going to be about high voltage drama and action but also include lighter moments. “It has lot of comedy too,” he says. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty.

Salman was recently quoted saying that he would only like to do films which made people smile.

“The film should make you laugh. When the audiences leave the theatres they should feel that they have a brother, a friend or even they themselves are similar to the characters portrayed.”

Veer is a period film set in 1880.
