Bantwal: Protest and Awareness Programme against MSEZ and PCPIR

Bantwal, Aug 11: A protest cum awareness programme against the Mangalore Special Economic Zone and PCPIR project was held at Boliyar in the taluk at 4.30 pm on Sunday, August 10, under the joint aegis of Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Cheloor church and Navachetana, Nandadeepa youth organizations.

Fr Vinod Mascarenhas,office bearer of Karavali Karnataka Janabhivruddhi Vedike in his address, clearly spelt out about the problems the residents of the district will face once these projects come into being. He called upon the people to join the protests against these projects, irrespective of their religious, caste or any other affiliations.
















Member of Janabhivruddhi Vedike Prakash V S gave full details about the scope, objectives and the ill affects of  MSEZ and PCPIR.

Localites Santosh Kumar Rai (president of Nagarika Rakshana Vedike Boliyar) and Ramesh Shetty (ex gram panchayat president Boliyar) pledged their wholehearted support for the protest programmes.

Cheloor church priest Fr Walter D'Souza, and ICYM Cheloor unit president Robert D'Souza were present at the dais.

Navachetana Youth Association secretary Felix D'Souza presented the programme.
