Mangalore, Jul 27 : Sandhya Shetty, whose roots are in Mangalore but was brought up in Mumbai, is a versatile fashion model, having stunning looks and an agile body. She was the Femina Miss India finalist in the year 2000, first runner up in the Vatika Ford Supermodel 2002 contest, is considered to be an emerging star of kollywood with an assured future.

This nubile heroine does not hesitate to reveal that she is also a karate champion and wants to do action roles. Her first film was in Tamil with hero Sarath Kumar. The dusky actress feels that the taste of the audience of the Kollywood films who have been supportive of different scripts, match with her own tastes. If the Hollywood heroines can do action films, why not us?, she questions. Shetty, who has taken part in music videos, televison series, fashion shows and a couple of Hindi films that did not make much mark, feels that southern film industry where action and dance get lot of attention, is an ideal ground for showcasing her talents and intelligence. Because, these two are her strong points.

Sandhya believes, “To be a successful model, it takes a great amount of intelligence apart from being just a pretty face and have a great body.”

Sandhya has had the distinction to be featured on the cover of London based fashion magazine OCCASIONS, along with a fashion feature in 2002. Her unusual beauty captivated Partho Ghosh, the Paris based international photographer’s eye in 2002. She was featured in the international French fashion magazines PARIS MATCH in 2002 and POINT DE VUE in 2003, a rare feat by an Indian model. Partho Ghosh also shot a series of pictures of Sandhya recently, for his international exhibition titled BEAUTIFUL WOMEN OF THE WORLD, being held all over the world.

Sandhya was inclined towards fashion and modelling right from her early days of college. This inclination saw her doing a brief stint in fashion designing, to get the first-hand-knowledge of fashion and styling. She feels, “Fashion modelling is unique in creating great illusions.” When she is on the ramp, her transformation from an innocent girl to the epitome of seductive elegance is just mind-blowing. With one friendly smile, she transforms the image of a model with an attitude into the girl-next-door to a great perfection.

As a model, Sandhya loves to be in front of the camera all the time. A perfectionist, she believes, “To achieve one’s goal in life, one has to be self disciplined and a dedicated soul. Modelling is one of the toughest professions in the world. Life of a model is full of disciplined upbringing, habits and sacrifices.” To excel in life is what Sandhya truly believes in. She attributes her success to cope with the round-the-clock work pressure to her loving family and her GOD loving attitude.
