Udupi, Jul 3: Beefing up of security for the world famous Shee Krishna Math here, was necessitated after intelligence networks had signalled that terrorists might target this ancient math set up by Madhwacharya. Now, 16 closed circuit cameras have been fitted inside the math premises at several places, enabling the concerned to closely monitor the movement and activities of the math visitors. For viewing the visuals transmitted by the cameras, three television screens are being installed, one each at the Badagu Malige of the math, one in the room of the swamiji and the last one at the police control room, informed Sunil Shetty, who has fitted these cameras.

The videos get recorded for later verification.  Sri Sugunendrateerta Sripada Swamiji of Paryaya Puthige Math said that there are plans to install cameras at the welcome arch, Karavali junction and car street here to make the town a safer place to live in. The CCTVs, which are on a trial run now, will be formally inaugurated on Srikrishna Janmashtami day, he revealed.

Meanwhile, a swiping machine was also installed at the service counter of the math, for enabling the devotees to pay the charges or donations through credit and debit cards. The machine was dedicated for public service by N Sathish, a doctor at USA, who was the first to swipe his card through the machine.

Sri Sugunendrateerta Sripada Swamiji who was present on the occasion, said that the machine has been installed to enable people who are used to route all their financial transactions through debit or credit cards.
