Governor Jamir Condoles Death of Banatwalla

Mumbai, Jun 27: The Governor of Maharashtra S C Jamir expressed his condolences on the sad demise of president of the Indian union muslim league and veteran parliamentarian G M Banatwalla, on Wednesday, 25 June.

In a message to Banatwalla’s brother, Governor Jamir said, ‘Shri Banatwalla was a highly respected and versatile parliamentarian. His knowledge of parliamentary history, law and practice was marvellous. Although he represented Ponnani constituency in Kerala, he took great interest in every important issue of national and international concern and especially in those relating to minorities. In his demise, India has lost a nationalist leader and a strong voice of the minorities. I had the privilege of knowing Shri Banatwalla and working with him closely. His death is therefore, a personal loss to me also.’
