Udupi, Jun 18: State home minister Dr V S Acharya and D V Sadanand Gowda, MP and BJP state president, paid visit to MLA Raghupati Bhat’s family, on Wednesday June 18 morning and console him and his family which is yet to come out from the shock of Padmapriya's. As reported earlier in these columns Padmapriya was consigned to flames on Tuesday June 17 afternoon.

D B Sadanand Gowda, in his condolence note, said, “It was indeed unfortunate for Padmapriya to pass away in such a manner. Each one of us is with you and your family in these hours of great grief." He also assured that all efforts will be made to unearth the truth behind her death and the entire episode that led to her death with full cooperation from state government and home ministry.

Kamala Bhat, wife of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, local BJP veterans including party workers were present on the occasion.

It could be recalled that the absence of Dr V S Acharya and Sadanand Gowda was very much conspicuous.  Rumours were abuzz here that both of them gave a slip at the last minute in order to avoid any questions from media and locals. The former had been involved in the search operation of Padmapriya and no doubt his now famous “Sweet News” had indeed set the tone for all developments which of course ended in total confusion, said a local while speaking to this correspondent.
