Mangaluru: Pallavi spirals into whirlpool of life in Sulige Sikkidaaga

Media Release

Mangaluru, Sep 23: Sandeep Malani’s woman empowerment, award winning Kannada-Tulu film Sulige Sikkidaaga went on air recently on Daijiworld 24x7.

The film revolves around Pallavi, a young lady from a simple family who is brought up lovingly by her parents. She is predominantly cared for by her mother as her father works in a didtant town. Her mother encourages her to study well and also supports Pallavi's love for classical art in dance and song.

Her mother dreams of the day when Pallavi gets married and becomes a good wife and mother. The mother and daughter lead a simple and good life. Since childhood Pallavi has been undergoing treatment for epilepsy. When she occasionally forgets her medication Pallavi gets into seizures, but they're very much under control.

One day, Kumar a handsome and well placed young man in society spots Pallavi as she rehearses for a dance performance and falls for her. He asks his parents to approach her family for her hand in marriage. As Kumar is their only spoilt son, they happily abide by his wishes and approach Pallavi's mother. During marriage proposal discussions, Pallavi’s mom tries to tell Kumar's family about Pallavi's medical condition but they brush it off and do not even hear her further.

The marriage takes place and Pallavi enters her new home with great happiness and dreams only to realize very soon that life is not as she imagined.

At this point, the story takes a 180 degree turn and on a split screen simultaneously projects two different stories of Pallavi played out in a scintillating manner. The left half of the screen presents a story of devastation and destruction. The right side presents a story of grit, determination, hope and ultimate triumph of the human spirit.
