Mangalore: ‘Lakumi’ Troupe Sets on Dubai Tour on May 21

Mangalore, May 21: ‘Lakumi,’ well known Tulu drama troupe of the city sets to fly Dubai, to stage its most popular dramas ‘Anchilatt Inchilatt’ and ‘Nambunane Nambodu.’ 

Speaking to media persons on Monday May 20, Navin D Padil, director of the touring troupe, said that the group of 21 members will leave city on Wednesday May 21. ‘Anchilatt Inchilatt’ has been staged for 227 times while 228th show will be staged in Dubai on Friday May 23. Similarly, ‘Nambunane Nambodu’ has been staged in various places for 127 times and 128th show will be staged in Dubai, he informed. 

This is the third visit of ‘Lakumi’ troupe to Gulf country this year. Recently, same troupe staged the show of same drama in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman which brought applause from the viewers of native expatriates there.  The troupe would stage the same performance in Dubai.  Moreover, the same troupe has plans to tour Kuwait in the coming October, he added. 

‘Namma Tuluver’ of Dubai has taken initiatives to stage these plays in Dubai. It is glad that the fragrance of Tulu drama is spreading across Gulf countries nowadays, he expressed happiness. 

Kishore Shetty, playwright, Naveen Shetty Alake and Dinesh Attavar were present at press meet.
