Mangaluru: St Agnes Pre-University College felicitate toppers at PTA AG meeting

Mangaluru, Jul 7: St Agnes Pre-University College conducted the annual general meeting for the academic year 2017-18, in the College Auditorium, recently.

The event began with the students invoking God’s blessings with a prayer song.

Kavitha Sanil, mayor, Mangaluru City Corporation graced the occasion.The toppers of the II PU department examination were felicitated by the mayor, who also honoured the spirited Chaitra, who inspite of being physically challenged achieved an astounding academic performance in the II PUC annual examination.

The chief guest addressed the parents and emphasized the need to inculcate the right values and ethics in children, so that they may be moulded into upright and right- thinking citizens of tomorrow. She also cautioned them about the hazards of unregulated social media which can lead children astray and counselled the parents to keep the lines of communication open.

The Principal Sr Shamita presented a report on the activities of the association and also conduced the elections for the new office-bearers. Jeshma, the PTA Secretary read the minutes of the meeting, while Jyothi, the treasurer read out the audited statement of accounts and outlined the budget for the current academic year.

Shailaja, lecturer in Kannada, introduced the chief guest in glowing terms and spoke about her achievements. The joint secretary, Agnes Group of Institutions Dr Sr Maria Roopa and the PTA vice president, Sam Mathew honoured the chief guest Kavitha Sanil.

Matilda Pinto, PTA member compered the event, while Shubhvani, lecturer in Computer Science welcomed the august gathering. Sam Mathew, the PTA vice-president proposed the vote of thanks.

A large gathering of enthusiastic parents and well-wishers were present.
