Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School conducts investiture ceremony

Mangaluru, Jul 3: The investiture ceremony of St Aloysius Gonzaga School for the academic year 2017-18 was held on Jun 28 at Alangana hall. Dr Leo D’Souza SJ director, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St Aloysius College, was the chief guest for the ceremony. He was accompanied on stage by Fr Melwin Mendonca SJ, manager and Grace Noronha, principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School.

The event began with a formal procession of the newly elected cabinet members led by the school head boy Abdul Rahiman Ayaan and the head girl Gowri Karunakara Shetty of class X. After the procession the school choir led the gathering into prayer.

The gathering was welcomed by Anya Aranha of class 10. This was followed by lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and the former head boy. The school cabinet members were then conferred on sashes and badges by the chief guest, manager and the principal. The newly elected cabinet members were administered the oath and led into lighting the candle which was handed over to every cabinet member.

The chief guest Dr Leo D’Souza SJ addressed the gathering where he stated that the newly elected leaders should be role models to their juniors and peers. He advised the leaders to cultivate qualities of Jesuit characteristics of education imbibing the four c's namely commitment, compassion, conscience and competence in their lives. Later, Fr Melwin Mendonca, manager of the school congratulated the newly elected cabinet members and spoke on the importance of positive thinking in their lives. The newly elected head boy Abdul Rahiman Ayaan proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the school anthem.
