22 Uttarkashi bus accident victims' bodies flown to Indore

Dehradun, May 25 (IANS): Bodies of 22 pilgrims, who died in a bus accident in Uttarkashi on Tuesday, were airlifted to Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday by a special aircraft.

The plane also carried six injured passengers, under supervision of a medical team.

The group from Indore had gone on an annual 'Chaar Dhaam Yatra' when the bus plunged into a deep gorge at Nalupani near Gangotri.

Twenty four persons had perished in the accident that included a driver and a conductor belonging to Uttarakhand.

Fifteen of the dead were from Indore, while seven were from Dhaar district.

The bodies were initially set to be taken on a special coach of a train but at the last minute Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan ordered that a special Air India plane be requisitioned to ferry the bodies back.
