Indian Origin Player wins English Badminton Nationals

London, Feb 20: Rajiv Ouseph has become the first badminton player of Indian origin to win the men's singles title at the English National championships in Manchester.

The 21-year-old Ouseph beat defending champion a Ghaffar in the final 21-15 12-21 21-11.

Ouseph is a former European junior champion and had been a semi-finalist three times at the English nationals before winning his first title.

He has trained under Prakash Padukone and Vimal Kumar in Bangalore and his next tournament is the Thomas Cup in Holland.
