Mumbai, Feb 14: A day after the arrest and release of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, the city is limping back to normalcy.

''There has been no untoward incident in Mumbai since Wednesday and more than 140 people have been taken into custody here,'' police sources said.

The arrested include culprits of violence, unlawful assembly and also those taken into preventive arrest, the police said.

The Police Commissioner has also appealed to the people through SMS asking them, ''not to believe in rumours and sensational news by certain agencies''.

''By and large, the city is peaceful and heavy police arrangements are in place,'' he said.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray, whose comments against north Indians had sparked off violence in the financial capital as well as Nashik and Pune for the last ten days, was arrested on Wednesday.

Shortly after 4 pm on Wednesday, the 39-year-old chief of the MNS was taken to suburban Vikhroli court from his central Mumbai residence and was granted bail.

Samajwadi Party leader Abu Asim Azmi, who was involved in a war of words with Raj over the latter's statements against actor Amitabh Bachchan, was also arrested and taken to Bhoiwada court, where he was granted bail.
