Raj Thackeray arrested along with Abu Azmi

Mumbai, Feb 13: After days of suspense, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray has been arrested by the Mumbai Police on Wednesday February 13.

The arrest comes after an FIR was filed against the leader for inciting violence in Mumbai.

Security had been beefed up at Vikhroli court in suburban Mumbai where he is expected to be produced after the arrest. His lawyers have asked for an appointment there where they will argue for bail.

Eight MNS workers have also been arrested in Vikhroli. Police have made 1,800 preventive arrests all over Maharashtra.

Earlier, Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil had called a meeting of senior police officers on the issue, even as State Secretary of Raj Thackeray's party, Vasant Geete, was taken into custody in Nagpur.

    Congratulations, Mumbai Police. Why Indian law makers are not implementing a stricter law for those who damage public and private properties? Why tax payer’s money should go to compensate the damage? Make the party or the people involved, to pay the damage.

    Ban such parties who indulge in such activities. Why the government is not interested in banning such parties? Are they too indulging in such activities when not in power? Are we living in between thugs?
