Mangaluru: Pilibail Yamunakka completes 50 days, earns Rs 2.5 crore

Mangaluru, Jan 27: Costalwood is which was on a low from an year is suddenly picking up. Pilibail Yamunakka, released on December 9 last month has completed successful 50 days and has given the audience from coastal Karnataka and other places, a movie to cherish for a lifetime.

Several Tulu movies hit theatres in the past one year out of which only a few could make their presence felt. Pilibail Yamunakka came as a respite which attracted families to the theatres. The film is running houseful and is breaking coastalwood records.

Produced by Rohan Shetty under the banner of Lakumi Cine Creations, Pilibail Yamunakka has collected Rs 2.5 crores in its seven-week run. The movie has garnered excellent reviews even in Mumbai. Pilibail Yamunakka will be released in other parts of Karnataka like Mysuru and Bengaluru in February. The movie will be released in Israel, Middle East, Australia and US soon.

Viewers say that Pilibail Yamunakka is a laughter-riot with an entertaining story. Director K Sooraj Shetty's Ekka Sakka too had set the cash registers ringing.

Kishore Kumar Shetty, the music director, introduced bollywood singers like Shreya Goshal, Kunal Ganjawaala and Aman Trikha to the Tulu audience. The song 'Mayakadonji' by Yakshagana bhagwata specialist Patla Satish Shetty is creating waves in the world of Yakshagana. For the first time, Pilibail Yamunakka's music rights were purchased by Zee Music, a leading audio company which deals with big budget bollywood movies.

Speaking to Daijiworld.com director Sooraj Shetty said, "It is a great feeling to witness Pilibail Yamunakka hit the 50-day mark. The credit goes to the people of coastal region for supporting the movie. Hope it scores a century. We strongly believed that we gave a good movie for the audience and success was left on the response of the viewers. Pilibail Yamunakka will be released in Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait and Israel on March 1. My next venture is 'English' and I am expecting the same kind of support from people".

"Credit goes to public of Mangaluru for their support for which I am thankful. The viewers have appreciated Pilibail Yamunakka. Fifty days in Mangaluru is equal to 100 or 200 days in other parts of the state," said lead actor Pruthvi Ambar.

Pilibail Yamunakka stars Sonal Monteiro, Chandrakala Mohan, Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Bhojaraj Vamanjoor, Umesh Mijar and others.
