UN to evaluate Mexico's human rights defenders' condition

Mexico City, Jan 12 (IANS): UN's special rapporteur Michel Forst will assess the situation of human rights defenders in Mexico, which he said is "complex", a media report said on Thursday.

Forst would visit Mexico for the first time between January 16-24 to evaluate the matter.

In a statement, Forst said his objective is "to take the pulse of those defending human rights in Mexico, understand their situation, listen to their challenges, and make concrete proposals to reinforce government efforts."
