Mangalore: Rare Kannada Book 'Ondane Male' to be Released

Mangalore, Feb 4: Plans are afoot to publish popular Kannada book 'Ondane Male' in the near future by the Kannada and Culture department. 

Earlier on litterateur Kudpi Vasudeva Shenoy had brought out the book series at a very low cost, and now it will be reproduced by the department to make the book popular with the modern world as well.

The Kannada and Culture department director Manu Baligar, released a set of ten books at a programme organized by the Kanthavara Kannada Sangha at Canara College here on Sunday February 3.
 
Addressing the gathering after the book releasing ceremony Baligar opined that many of the old books deserve to be published again. "The department will bring out at least 3,000 copies of the old and rare book." The department will also publish other rare Kannada books in the future, he added.

Moreover, he said that the department would also try to sanction funds for the renovation of the Manjeshwar Govinda Pai Memorial building at Manjeshwar in Kasargod district which was in a dilapidated condition.

With regard to the proposal on construction of Rangamandira in the city, Baligar informed that 13 deputy commissioners had taken charge in the district after the proposal was chalked out.

However, he clarified that since there were no bidders to accept the tender, the construction work would be handed over to the land army for which the government approval was mandatory, he informed.

Principal of Surana College, Bangalore E Radhakrishna was present.
