I hope this project will be completed soon. Travelling back and forth to Bajpe airport is a tedious task especially when one travels long and far.

I am very much skeptical, as others opined, about the new airport in Manipal, that too expected to come up within a year!!. Considering the apathy shown by our South Canara politicians, who could have done wonders, if they intended, this project looks like a day dream.

I’m too surprised that some people were surprised hearing the news of an International airport at Manipal. Please be aware that Manipal and Padubidri were the two places first selected for the international airport before Bajpe. Because of some dirty politicians we have, the present airport is situated at a place, to travel there at night it’s horrible.

I am very sceptical about the airport in Manipal, that too in Karnataka, where the beureaucrats are more interested in eating/gobbling money than developmental activities. See the deplorable condition of the Shiradi ghat, even after four months of closure, nothing substantial seems to have happened at Shiradi ghat on the NH 48.

First give us a proper motorable road from Bangalore to Mangalore, then one may speak about the airport. Instead of offering a cake, at least give the citizens some bread. Some of the roads in the coastal district do not exist anymore and even if they exist, they exist only on paper. And the money meant for such roads must have already found a place in the pockets/bellies of the corrupt, and shameless officials and politicians.

Please don't get carried away by such statements. We are well aware of the saga of the good old Mangalore Airport - which till a decade ago resembled a railway Station. Imagine an Airport coming up within a span of 12 months - that too in Karnataka State which does not have a Government at the moment ? I would not have commented if this statement came from a Politician - but from an entrepreneur who knows the Bureucratic set up ? Or is he talking of a Helipad for the Manipal Pai's ?

I am surprised by the announcement by Mr Gopinath , I am not sure about this story , dont know if there is government aproval for a new airport I doubt this will happen beacause there is no need for new airport the existing airport is already upgrading and it is more than sufficient to handel air traffic for the next 20 years....

Since Government or private have decided to make a new Airport, is it not appropriate the new Airport is made some where in between Kundapur & Bhatkal since manipal is close to Bajpe Airport. I am not saying because I am from Kundapur, but because this will help not only to develop tourism but also to develop industries (Non poluted ones)in all areas of DK.

Yes, airport is required for Udupi but immediately we require a Train connection from Bangalore to Udupi/Karwar/Goa which will benefit all the Coastal people. We have to fight for this first.

It is a great news that airport is coming up in Manipal. Capt. Gopinath did not mention whether the airport is private or by government. It will be a miracle if this dreams come true in next year.
