Mangalore: 'Industries should Focus More on Quality Control'

Mangalore, Feb 1: A programme in training capacity building in 'Cleaner Production and Industries in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts' was organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in association with Centre for Sustainable Development, Bangalore here on Thursday January 31.

The programme was inaugurated by district deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his concern over the rate at which improperly planned industrial development has been polluting the environment.

Addressing the gathering Chamber of Commerce and Industries Udupi president Gujjadi Prabhakar Nayak stressed on the need for industries to focus on quality control of products in order to compete in the market.

He lamented that though the country has plenty of resources, people have failed to utilize them to their full potential.

Speaking on the relation between industries and environmental concerns, he said that any industrial development should be planned keeping in mind the affect it will have on the environment.

Among those present were Project Agasthya chief executive officer Rajeev Kumar and KCCI office-bearers.
