Beltangady: Three Pilgrims from Nasik Killed in Accident near Naravi

Beltangady, Jan 31: Three persons who were on their way to Gokarna from Dharmasthala were killed after the tourist bus they were travelling rammed into a roadside tree at Arasikatte near Naravi here in the wee hours of Thursday January 31.

Fifteen persons are in critical condition out of 30 persons injured, owing to ghastly accident. Tourists from Aurangabad, in Nasik of Maharastra were on pilgrimage to Dakshina Kannada when the tragedy occurred at Arasikatte.  The deceased have been identified as Reshmabai, Narayan, son of Reshmabai, who died on the spot while Ambadas, the driver, breathed his last in the hospital later. 

They had come to Dharmasthala, after visiting pilgrimage centers in West Bengal, Orissa and northern states.  They were on their way to Gokarna from Dharmasthala when the accident took place at 4 am on Thursday.

The locals stated that they heard a thud at 3.50 am on Thursday.  They immediately rushed to the spot and found children and women crying for help. The tourist bus was found to have rammed into a tree before turning turtle on the road.  While Reshmabai and Narayan died on the spot, Ambadas succumbed to injuries on the way.

The Venoor police have registered a case in this regard.
