Three School Kids Killed as Van's Cylinder Explodes

MUMBAI, Jan 28: Three schoolchildren were killed when the CNG cylinder of a van they were travelling exploded here on Monday, police said.

The explosion took place in the Millat Nagar area of suburban Oshiwara, they said.

The three children, all girls, were killed on the spot.

"The children are from the Millat High School and had boarded the Omni van to go home. As the driver started the van, the CNG kit exploded killing the three girls instantly," they said.

Some other children in the van were injured and taken to a nearby hospital, police added.

    I heard on NDTV that the van was fitted with a LPG cyclinder which is illegal to do so and highly dangerous. It is like carrying a live bomb in your vehicle.

    Is the CNG kit installed as per the relevant safety standard. What is the action from the school, parants and authorities if the CNG Kit is illigaly assembeled which is not safe. First and foremost we parants must think /check all these things before choosing private bus service our children..
