B'lore: Republic Day Celebrated Grandly Amidst Music, Dance

Bangalore, Jan 27: The city celebrated the country's Republic Day on Saturday January 26 with grand music and dance programmes with noted musicans performing all over the city in which people from various parts of the city joined in.
 


Virtuoso tabla player pandit Zakir Hussain gave a live concert at the  Ashoka Hotel. The programme was organized by the Rotary club in the city. The 'jugalebandi' between the tabla and mridangam brought in some humour and much applause from the appreciative audience. The instrumentalists took the audience into a divine atmosphere alongwith the vocalists. This was one event which truly brought out the concept of the unity in diversity. 

 

Noted singers from Mumbai Jayashree and Subha Mudagal's 'jugalbandi'  at Chowdaiah Memorial Hall on this eventful 'Saturday Night'. Jam packed audience enjoyed the musical performance here on Republic Day. The co-ordination of two schools of music so to speak namely Carnatic and Hindushtani was more than music to the ears.

The two singers did not try to outdo each other and were compeletly comfortable with the melody and rhythm and more importantly thoroughly enjoying themselves. At the same time Nirupama Rajendra of the 'Famous troupe  of Dance' of  the city performed specially Hindustani Kathak, Ramayana, Dance drama, Krishna Maduriya and other historical dance play. They have also performed various big programmes in the country and world over. The last performing couple was Geetha Maduria at Chowdaiah Memorial hall which was organized by the Drishty school of dance on 26 January.
