I was fortunate to turn 18 just before the 1998 General Elections and exercise my franchise just once. I voted for Uncle Blasius, though he did not win that year, he was and will always be an inspiration to many.

I have fond memories of Uncle Blasie. When he was labour minister I was in class 8 and had visited Bangalore for my summer vacation. A chance encounter with him at Vidhana Soudha was a memory I still cherish. He insisted on showing us around his office and took us to his Sankey Road home in his official car which was a kind gesture and an example of his simplicity and down to earth nature.

I have fond memories of Uncle Blasius as a public figure in Mangalore and pray that his soul rests in peace. May god give his children and dear ones the strength to cope with this loss.
