Udupi: Five Students of MICE Pass First Stage of National Olympiads

Udupi, Jan 24: Five students of MICE 'IIT-JEE (Vijetha)' students have made the district proud by getting selected in the first stage of physics, chemistry and astornomy National Standard Examiniations (NSE)  that were conducted a couple of months ago, stated a press release from MICE prinicipal Suprita Amin.

The selected students are Uttam Bhat in physics, Srikanth Nayak, Sharathchandra Holla and Khateeb Noor-ul-Huda in chemistry and Uttam Bhat and Shreyas Shetty in astronomy. Uttam Bhat won silver in the International Astronomy Olympiad - 2007 and gained entry in to the second stage of the examination.

These students are among the top 200 students selected in each subject from the country and are  eligible to write the second stage of the examination. 

The second stage of the Indian National physics/chemistry/astronomy Olympiads will be held on February 2 and 3. The selected students will answer the exam at Bangalore. 30-35 students in each category will be short-listed from the country to go to the third stage of the Olympiads.

The short-listed students in each subject will attend Indian Olympiad training camps at Mumbai. The best of the students in the camp will then represent India at the International Olympiads, the release stated.
