Mangalore: Dental Conference in City from Jan 25 - Jan 28

Mangalore, Jan 23: Around 5,000 dental surgeons, specialists and super-specialists from all over the country and abroad will take part in the four-day 61st edition of the Indian Dental Conference from January 25 to 28 at the T M A Pai International Convention centre here in the city.
 
The conference will be hosted by the Dakshina Kannada branch of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and is being held as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the IDA's Dakshina Kannada unit. This is the second time the meet is being held in the city and the fifth time the state is hosting it. Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Jan 22 Dr U S Krishna Nayak, chairman of the Organising Committee informed that the conference would try to explore 'Newer Horizons in Dentistry.'

A distinguished galaxy of 60 national and international speakers will give their valued insights into the latest technologies in dentistry. Nearly 200 dental colleges of the state will also participate in this event. Dr Nayak informed that it was student-friendly conference and for the first time, there will be free paper and poster presentations by student delegates. Moreover, two symposia on dental infection control, occupational safety and oral cancer prevention have been organised as part of the jubilee celebrations, in addition to a dental exhibition, he added.

Padmabhushan, Brig. Dr Anil Kohli, president, Dental Council of India (DCI) will be the chief guest and will inaugurate the conference while Manipal University pro chancellor H S Ballal will be the guest of honour.
