Most bodies beyond recognition, says NDRF

New Delhi, Nov 20 (IANS): Most of those killed in the train disaster near Kanpur early on Sunday have been crushed and "are beyond recognition", the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said.

NDRF spokesperson Krishna Kumar told IANS: "Most of the bodies which have been taken out from the coaches of the Patna-Indore Express are beyond recognition as they are badly crushed.

"The five NDRF teams deployed in the rescue operations have so far rescued 53 passengers out of which 16 are critically injured," Kumar added.

NDRF rescuers used state of art technology to cut through the coaches and bring out the passengers trapped inside, he said.
