Two killed in Bengal road accident


Kolkata, Oct 9 (IANS): Two persons from Kolkata, on way to Bhutan on a vacation, were killed and seven others injured when their car collided with a lorry in West Bengal's Malda district on Saturday morning, police said.

According to police, two families residing at Kolkata's Jadavpur area were headed for the neighbouring Himalayan kingdom during the Puja holidays when the accident occurred at Kodubari crossing.

Lakshmi Prasad (70) and Lata Singh (45) were taken to a nearby hospital by local residents, where doctors declared both dead.

Among the injured persons, two, including the car driver, were in critical condition and transferred to Malda Medical College hospital.
