TN governor summons chief secy over Jaya's health

Chennai, Oct 8 (DHNS): Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao on Friday summoned senior AIADMK ministers and Chief Secretary P Rama Mohana Rao to enquire about Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health.

The governor’s meeting with the ministers triggered speculation that an interim or a deputy chief minister might be announced in the wake of Jayalalithaa’s extended stay in the hospital.

During the 30-minute meeting, the governor also discussed administrative affairs, including the Cauvery issue.

He enquired about the arrangements made for the visit of a high-level technical committee and the information to be conveyed to the panel with regard to protecting farmers’ interests.

Minister for Public Works, Highways and Minor Ports Edappadi K Palanisamy explained in detail the arrangements and related matters.

The chief secretary also briefed the governor about the day-to-day administrative affairs.

The Government of Tamilnadu should not make a mockery of our Constitution and leave the people of the State in confusion. while we feel sorry and pray for the CM who is ill, governance should not come to a halt. The Governor should direct the cabinet to appoint an in charge Minister to officiate cabinet meetings and decision making for the portfolio held by the CM.
