AIADMK MPs march to PMO, demand a Cauvery board

New Delhi, Oct 4 (IANS): A delegation of the AIADMK's parliament members on Tuesday marched to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) here and submitted a memorandum to constitute a Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

"Today (Tuesday) we handed over the memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Cauvery Water Management Board will be constituted quickly," AIADMK parliamentarian M. Thambidurai told reporters after meeting Modi.

The march came a day after the central government told the Supreme Court that it does not have the jurisdiction to direct it to set up the Cauvery Water Management Board as it was just a recommendation of the Cauvery Water Dispute Tribunal and not binding on the government.

The central government earlier on September 30 had told the apex court that it has no objection in forming the CMB.
