M'lore: `Ye Mana’ Released During 55th `Mithr’ Anniversary

Mangalore, Dec 24: 'Mithr' the popular Konkani weekly from the city celebrated its 55th anniversary at the Sandesha auditorium here in on the 22nd Dec 2007. Mithr sub-editor Victor Mathias gave the introductory speech and Fr. Anil D'Souza, director, ICYM invoked Gods blessings. Lloyd Rego, editor, Mithr welcomed the gathering.
 

Kishore Gonsalves popularly known as Kisoo Barkur in the Konkani literary field, spoke about Konkani journalism in general and that of 'Mithr' in particular.



Fr. Denis DSa, administrator, FMMC, released `Ye Mana', Audio/CD album of Adolf Jayathilak.  Adolf spoke about his experience during the production of this album and thanked everyone who had supported him during the course of making the album, including the lyricist Lloyd Rego and the music composer Roshan. Fr. Denis DSa informed that irrespective of the themes chosen by the musicians, there is definitely a message hidden in everyone's lyrics, be it positive or otherwise, he added.
 


Dr. Edward Nazareth, orthopaedic surgeon and famous konkani literary figure, presided over the function and released `Althoddi Polthoddi' a collection of articles of Fr. VJ Menezes (Melki Hospet). Fr. VJ Menezes explaining the reason behind penning his series of articles in 'Mithr' said that it is an attempt to help man to experience life beyond his own self.
 


Vitori Karkol was the MC of the function.  Richard Kavtar proposed vote of thanks. 'Mithr' also honored the children who had won the photo contest competition during the occasion. Prasad printers encouraged the children by giving them prizes.
