Pakistan still in anaesthesia after surgery: Parrikar

Dehradun, Oct 1 (PTI): In his first remarks after the cross LoC anti-terror strike, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today compared Pakistan's condition to an "anaesthetised patient" after a surgery and said like Hanuman Indian Army has recognised its prowess.

"Pakistan's condition after the surgical strikes is like that of an anaesthetised patient after a surgery who doesn't know that the surgery has already been performed on him.

Even two days after the surgical strikes, Pakistan has no idea what has happened," Parrikar said.

India loves peace and does not believe in unprovoked aggression but it won't take terror lying down, he said, adding that the strikes were also meant to give a message to Pakistan that Indian troops knew how to retaliate.

Comparing the Army to Hanuman, he made a reference to the Ramayana in which the monkey god crossed an ocean in a single stride after he was reminded about his extraordinary powers by Jamwant.

"Indian troops were like Hanuman who did not quite know their prowess before the surgical strikes," Parrikar said.

Congratulating the troops for the precision and efficacy of the strikes, the Minister said he greeted all its members for their extraordinary feat.

"The surgical strikes gave our forces an idea of what they were capable of doing. Pakistan is bewildered following the strikes, not quite knowing how to react," Parrikar said in his first public reaction after the strikes.

"Indian troops caught Pakistan unawares as our commandos did what they had to without Pakistani authorities getting a wind of it," he said addressing a gathering at Peethsain in Pauri district.

The Defence Minister was addressing the gathering after unveiling a statue of noted freedom fighter from Uttarakhand Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali in his ancestral village Peethsain.

India carried out surgical strikes on seven terror launch pads across the LoC on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, inflicting "significant casualties" on terrorists preparing to infiltrate from PoK.

Parrikar's outbursts are uncalled for as these so called 'surgical strikes' are a tip of the iceberg. Being the defense minister of our country he should be more careful in his speeches. Talking more and doing very little is the special quality of this present government. Let them learn from the late PM, Mrs. Indira Gandhi how she had dealt a big blow to Pakistan. Maturity is required when we deal with war matters.

pak army has developed the habbit of using terrorists as thier proxy against india as they know they cannot win a direct war against india as they lost all 4 wars including kargill in a direct war against india.as india is openly declaring to world that it has entered pakistan border and conducted strikes paki army has no other option other than retaliation to avoid humiliation.but these coward pak army instead of taking on the challenge are denying the attacks and giving public statements that india has not conducted surgical strikes just to save thier a$$es(india has claimed it has video footage of entire surgical strike operation which will be released later as per indian dgmo statements).manohar parikkar is not so dumb not to recognise this.he is checking pakistan army threshhold and want to expose the same to world as well as paki people to show thier real aukaat.pak army has got severely humiliated as all the world including saudi arabia, iran, russia, usa,eu are supporting india.all the south asian countries have boycotted saarc summit in pak as protest against pak.pak has never got humiliated like this since 1971 bangladesh war.they cant even use terror proxies like now as they know world will be watching them from now.by openly declaring surgical strikes modi has exposed the bluff of paks nuclear threats if it is attacked.

Stop using provocative, irresponsible and stupid statements in public when tension of war is prevailing. Hindus in Pakistan too believe in Hanuman who set fire on Lanka when there was no such thing as surgical strikes during that period. Let's be calm and pray for peace. Parrikar would have worried only if one of his sons/daughters are in the Military.

All political games....you know this before...govt reacted late after India lost 20 soldier's....even we won kargil war...at that time we went inside LOC ....and we came back our border after we won...we should stick on that place...we never give up that place and we seen all pak terrorists are operating using those places with the help of Pakistani military....if pak responsible for this ...Indian govt should claim at least 5cr per soldier from international court...2crs for soldier & 3crs for military fund.

Congress has kind of soft corner for Pakistan. I don't know why.?
It was a long overdue. I think no big deal in it.

Now threat is that terrorists across globe unite against India.
So security at especially airports should be increased.
Especially from Afghanistan Nepal srilanka and Bangla. Terrorists may use those airports to target Indian planes. I think katmandu is the one point which need more security.

Too much politicizing the event will back fire. This is typical BJP mindset. Indian army has evolved from lot of hardships, seasoned and time-tested. Don't steal "The Glorious Indian Army" lime light to your advantage. Political parties will come and go but Indian army will remain and grow stronger and stronger.

As a Defense Minster, use of provocative language as above should be minimized. At this point, less should be said in public for the sake of vote bank and more attention be given on on-going events and tactical decisions.

Understanding the consequences from a war on public and on economy for next two decades is a key concern. No one wants a war unless really pushed into it or there is threat to national security.

There are factors not known to us and will never understand that comes into play when such critical decisions are made.

The Defense minister may have to meet his counterpart or senior leaders around the world in next few weeks and such provocative language does not help to build a credible coalition for India.

Today wars on won not in battle field but in understanding and analyzing the strength or strategy of the enemy.

India is building international status quo in last two decades for which there is need for meeting of minds with other nations and their leaders.

If we read a book or two from second world war or from 1960-1980 era of war in Vietnam or Korea to gain an understanding on consequences of a given war.

In a war instances where nations prepare to minimize causalities or move soldiers to front line for war readiness, there is so many important considerations and decisions that we common people will come aware of them after three to five years.

All citizens of the nation will support the government as one front against the enemy, no hesitation, let those involved use their time to learn, digest, and we can only pray that correct decisions are taken for the sake of current and future generations.
