Mangalore, December 23: Christmas celebration is the commemoration of the day on which Christ came down to the earth about two thousand years ago. Christmas is the birthday of the person who showed the presence of divinity to the community, said Fr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, bishop of Mangalore at the Bishop House here on Saturday, December 22.

Almighty was not born in any rich or royal family, neither in capitalistic family nor in any stake holder family. He was born in cowshed, but for Christ it was no less a palace. He dedicated himself to the poor and needy, he added.

The system has seen a paradigm shift in the form with the introduction of globalization, liberalization and privatization. The gap between rich and poor is being drastically widened, multinational companies and Special Economic Zones are contributing factors in this regard. Christ would definitely infuse confidence and inspire in poor and needy, he averred, wishing media persons merry Christmas.

Fr Francis Lewis, director, Sandesha College of fine arts, Fr Francis Rodrigues, editor, Raknno Konkani Weekly, Elias Fernandes, director, Four Winds Communication and Marcel Monteiro, president of Rachana were present at the press conference.
