SAARC Summit postponed after India's boycott: Nepalese media

Kathmandu, Sep 28 (PTI) : The next SAARC Summit, which was scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan in November, has been postponed after India pulled out of the event "in the prevailing circumstances", Nepalese media reported today.

"The 19th SAARC Summit has been postponed after India yesterday announced its inability to take part in it "in the prevailing circumstances"," the Kathmandu Post reported.

Reports emanating from Nepalese media are significant as Nepal is the Chair of the eight-member grouping.

India has already communicated its decision to Nepal. The summit is automatically postponed or cancelled even if one member country skips the event.

Tensions between India and Pakistan are growing after militants stormed an Indian Army base in Uri on September 18, killing 18 soldiers.

Besides India, three other SAARC members - Bangladesh, Bhutan and Afghanistan - have pulled out of the summit, indirectly blaming Pakistan for "creating an environment which is not right for the successful holding" of the meet.

Founded in 1985, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) currently has Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka as its members.

    Don't boast about 'ondu gundu badiyade...' let Modi fire one Gundu, there will be ten coming from Chinese side ! India will have to shoot in dual directions then !

    MMS wasn't for no reason an acclaimed bureaucrat worldwide, to have tactfully headed UPA though you think Sonia Gandhi was the PM !

    MMS kept saying that by dialogue peace remains established - not by thuggery that Modi does !

    'You may be a rocket scientist so 'Brahmastra' is visible to you in everything Modi does with/for/about Pak.

    For a common man, Modi tried to feed milk to a venomous snake thinking it will mellow but the snake remains a snake that too very poisonous.

    Now, Modi won't go to SAARC, won't release water to Pak, what will he do with the water ? Create swimming pools throughout the country and swim in them ? Or, tell Varundev to move away from Jammu/Kashmir rivers location ?

    You need a bit of plate-servicing. The moment people go against anything Modi does for Pak, you call them Paki supporters ? Meaning, one should silently watch Modi doing his will in everything ? India is a free country or under dictatorship of Modi ?

    Tell me - how will Modi tackle Pakistan ? Agree - Rahul Gandhi was/is dumb, Sonia Gandi (was PM as per your view) handled Pakistan badly - you tell me how will Modi handle the situation blocking the water flow ??

    Granted - Modi did the good job by not going for SAARC, succeeded well in bringing other countries too into his tent, in what way will this boycott help India ? What if the war breaks up - Is India ready ? Can India sustain China if war take place ?

    Is this the 'Eenth ka jawab paththar se' that he was boasting at election campaigns before May 2014 ?

    The water treaty with Pakistan was concluded when India faced no water shortages. Now it’s feasible to divert water to Delhi and drought prone areas of Rajasthan.

    Our intentions should be converted in to actions.

    Looking at the member states, India is the only one doing well. So, best is to call it off and start another group with our good neighbours sans Paki's. Paki's always sucked up to the Arabs anyways.
