Six Jamaat militants nabbed

Kolkata, Sep 26 (IANS): Six Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) activists, including three of Bangladeshi origin, have been arrested from Assam and West Bengal, police said here on Monday.

"Special Task Force of Kolkata police has arrested six Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorists," Joint CP Crime, Visal Garg, told a media meet.

All of them are actively involved with JMB, said the police official.

Garg said four of them are wanted in connection with the Khagragarh blast case in Burdwan district in 2014.

Police have seized laptops, mobile phones, wire, detonators, a powder like substance and fake ID proofs from them.

"We had information that these people were hiding in the north-eastern states and in some parts of south India. They were under physical and technical surveillance of the STF. We were able to crack their encrypted communication system," Garg said.

Two suspected terrorists were killed and a third injured in the Burdwan blast.
