5.7-magnitude quake rocks Japan


Tokyo, Sep 26 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter Scale shook Japan on Monday, authorities said.

The temblor occurred around 2.20 p.m., and on the Japanese seismic scale that peaks at 7, the quake measured 5 minus in Amami prefecture and 4 in Kagoshima and Okinawa prefectures, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.

On Monday, another earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 rocked the coast of the Urakawa, Hokkaido prefectures several minutes earlier at 2.13 p.m., Xinhua news agency reported.

The weather agency has not issued a tsunami warning or advisory, and no damage had been reported yet.
