Karkala: Young Businessman Hacked to Death at Someshwar

Karkala, Dec 17: A young businessman hailing from Saccharipet near Belman here was hacked to death by two unidentified men near a canteen at Someshwar on Udupi-Shimoga road in the small hours of Monday December 17.

The murdered has been identified as Bashir (35), son of Sayyad, a resident of Marigudi Road at Saccharipet near Belman.  The murder took place when Bashir was on his way back home from Bangalore along with his nephew Abdul Khader (16) on his car.  It was already 1 am when the duo reached Nadpal near Someshwar. Accordingly they stopped the car to sip a cup to tea in a roadside canteen.

As they were having tea, two unidentified men who came riding a mobike alighted near Bashir and before anyone could realize as what was happening, hacked the latter with sabres.  Bashir sustained critical injuries in his head and died on the spot.  Before the onlookers could react, the murderers fled the place on their mobike.

Bashir, who was bachelor, had been to Bangalore to fix a proposal a couple of days ago.  He owned a chicken stall near fish market at Udupi and was also involved in scrap business.  Along with this he also owned a small timber business.  Owing to his trade, he was living at Doddangudde near Udupi.

Abdul Khader has lodged a complaint with Hebri police in this regard.
